They don’t owe you their attention.
They aren’t excited by what you say just because it was approved by the committee.
Slapping your logo on it doesn’t make it more valuable.
You have something you want to tell people, something that might legitimately make their lives better, but they have no obligation to listen
That means your first job is to be interesting.
No one cares that you’re hiring.
Stating your values when no one asked isn’t compelling.
You can’t expect people to be impressed just because you won an award thousands of other companies got, too.
You can’t talk to people until they have chosen to listen to you.
You have to be interesting.
You have to say something others won’t.
You have to earn people’s attention before you can pitch them a job.
